Taking Stock is a brand new play by local writer Rob Johnston. It was recently previewed with a rehearsed play reading at the Royal Exchange Theatre with a cast that included Georgia Taylor (of Coronation Street). RLT are fortunate in that they have managed to secure the rights to give this new work its very first outing as a complete performance.
Taking Stock is set in the staff room of a Salford Supermarket where the witty banter and dry one-liners from instantly recognisable characters who are working to live should strike a chord with most of us.
The arrival of young Kaz sparks off a small chain of events which allows the others to take a look at their lives, which are more than just stocking shelves and dealing with bolshie customers.
RLT are also fortunate that Rob Johnston will be working with them throughout rehearsals and will be available after each performance to discuss the play with the audience.
