In recent years over £80,000 has been spent in refurbishing the theatre, including in the public areas - reupholstering all 231 seats in the auditorium, redecorating, new floor coverings, modernisation of all toilets and the installation of a disabled toilet, new lighting and new furniture in the bar area, essential repairs to combat dry rot. For those involved in productions there has been the installation of a new stage lighting system including a state of the art computerised lighting desk, sound multicores, stage management system, new drapes and curtain tracks and the beginning of a programme to replace all of the existing stage lights. During this time the exterior of the building has also been repainted.
All of the above has been paid mainly from the theatre’s income. We have also received financial support from Tameside Community Chest and donations from The Trustees of Hyde Lads Club and individual seat sponsors shown below
There is still much more to do - an additional set of both ladies and gentlemen’s toilets for use by the public, a new sound system including an induction loop for the hard of hearing for example. If you can help we still have seats available which can be sponsored at a cost of £50.00 each. Each sponsor’s name is engraved on a small plaque which is attached to their sponsored seat.
