In life, we all have crucial moments, and the characters in this play are no exception.........
Maxine, a Keep Fit Instructress has been married to Kevin for ten years and her biological clock is ticking away furiously. Unfortunately, Kevin feels under great pressure to oblige Maxine's frequent 'crucial moments' to conceive. Celia, his doting mother is extremely critical of Maxine's behaviour and this causes much friction.
Maxine is training her girls at Woodfield Church Hall for the forthcoming, prestigious Keep Fit Rally when Fran, one of her stalwart team members, finds a newspaper article, and after showing it to the class, the girls hatch a crafty plan...... A plan that Kevin must not discover........
The Rally nears and tension mounts as they rehearse a routine to impress the judges. They live in hope of winning the trophy with their 'symbolic interpretation.' Meanwhile, Stanley Birkdale, the part time caretaker of Woodfield Church and his mate Harry Beresford are members of the Men's Society Snooker Club. Stanley and Harry are SAS fantasists and together they enjoy reliving their old army days. They can sympathise with Kevin's problems and offer manly advice about woman trouble.... wives in particular, because they have both survived many crucial moments in their married lives.
However, a further crucial moment appears on the horizon as Stanley and Harry are offered an unusual outlet for their SAS fantasies.
